Welp, today we were told to do our trigger shot!  We had 27 follicles!  That’s gotta be some sort of record.  Just praying that doesn’t lead to OHSS.  Fingers crossed.  At 7pm exactly we had to do the Lupron trigger followed by .5 ml of Novarel.  At 7 am I need to do the second lupron shot and then report to the doctors for more blood work and another ultrasound.  My progesterone levels went down today to 1.2!  You have no idea how excited that makes me.  It appears as if we’ll have a fresh cycle after all!!!  Friday morning we will make our way to the New Jersey office for our retrieval.  Shit’s getting real.

I can tell you that one of the two meds I had tonight is making me dizzy.  I’m not a fan of feeling like everything is spinning but it’s a small price to pay.  Plus I can use it as an excuse to go to bed early.

We need to say a big thank you to everyone who has supported us through this journey.  It’s not over yet but the outpouring of love, prayers and positivity has really made a difference and we couldn’t make it through this without all of you.  Thank you, thank you!!

  2. Hello! I’ve been through three retrievals and have compiled a list that I share with everyone, these are the things that have helped me get through, hope it helps 🙂

    Day of trigger start:

    Salt salt salt sports drinks with sodium and electrolytes, vitamin water etc.. As much salt as you can handle. Start taking a stool softener, you will get constipated and your ovaries will be swollen so you won’t be able to poo. A stool softener will help a lot! No plain water!

    After retrieval: Heating pad. Sleep sitting up in recliner. Pee as often as you can, if you hold it, it’s gonna hurt bad. Salt! Fritos, beef jerkey, crackers, chips, pretzels.. everything with extra salt. I know it sounds yucky but the more salt the better. Sleep sitting up like in a recliner..Fluid is going to build up around your ovaries and in your belly. Your going to be short of breath. It’s ok. Sleeping in a recliner will help. Eat chicken or plain hamburger patties. Small meals small bites. Your ovaries will be pushing on your intestines and if you eat fast you’ll get all pukey. The more salt in your system, the more it will draw the fluid away from your ovaries. See your acupuncturist. It does wonders for the extreme bloating. Avoid fruit that holds water, soups, ice cream, coffee and tea 😦

    Once you think you beat it, think again.. The progesterone will make it flare up awful! Take it easy!!! And just an FYI… Sometimes the fluid from the follicles will leak into your body and cause other areas to swell… Like your lady parts lol

    When to call doctor:

    If you gain more than 5 pounds in one day.

    Excessive bleeding like a period

    You can’t pee!!**** big one!!

    Fever

    If your lady parts swell and it scares you 🙂

      This all sounds lovely! I was hoping it wouldn’t be that bad. But any excuse to eat salt is good with me! I love it! Soup is going to be hard to avoid because I’m already craving some. Thanks for the advice!

      1. Your welcome! No one really prepared me for the amount of bloating that would follow and I was really caught off guard the first time around. It can be a little alarming when you bloat up like some kind of sea animal lol. Anyways I hope it helps a little.. I also retrieved a large number of eggs (esp for someone my age!) and the more eggs, the more discomfort. Take it easy and good luck!
